Luke Tuttle threw strong innings in relief,
Ben Burman recorded a multi-hit game and
Nick Berger drove in a run, but the Susquehanna University Baseball team fell behind early and dropped a non-conference contest to Neumann 6-1 Thursday afternoon in Aston.
How It Happened
- The River Hawks (6-8) threatened early, and succeeded on scoring after an RBI single by Berger brought home Justin Miller. That was all the team would get though and the Knights (9-10) matched that run in the bottom of the inning.
- The second inning was scoreless for either side, but Neumann attacked in the third inning and grew a significant lead. When the inning was all said and done, the River hawks were put in a 5-1 hole.
- Tuttle came on in relief and performed admirably, relinquishing only a single run in the middle innings.
- Susquehanna recorded a hit in nearly every inning at-bat, but could not push runners across home plate and fell, 6-1. Andrew Russel pitched a clean ninth inning for the River hawks in the loss.
Inside the Box Score
- Tuttle continued his strong start to the season, throwing 4.1 innings in relief and creating soft contact from the Neumann batters.
- The bats remained quiet for the most part, but the team still recorded more hits than Neumann, with eight total in the game.
- Burman led the way with two hits as Chris Corrado, Berger, Steve Lorenz, Eric Rahn and Craig Roumes each added a single hit.
- Curt Yenchik had two hits and 3 RBI to lead the Knights to a win, snapping the four game streak for the River Hawks.
Up Next for the River Hawks
- The River Hawks begin a three-game set with Moravian on Saturday. First pitch of a doubleheader is scheduled for 12 p.m. in Bethlehem.
