Selinsgrove, Pa. – The Susquehanna University softball team stepped out of conference play to face local rival, Lycoming College, Tuesday afternoon. Susquehanna (13-12) dropped 4-0 and 7-5 decisions to the Lycoming Warriors (18-12) in the non-conference doubleheader as the Warriors retained the Cancer Awareness Cup.

How It Happened
- Lycoming scored its four runs in two innings on six hits and one River Hawk error.
- Following two scoreless innings, the Warriors broke the stalemate with two outs in the top of the third as Kayla Kline cracked a three-run home run over the left field fence to bring home Madison Brown, who reached on an error and moved to second on a ground out, and Taylor Gessner, who was hit by a pitch.
- Lycoming stretched its lead to 4-0 in the sixth when Morgan Klosko hit a one-out RBI single to left center to score Kline, who had lead off the inning with a single and then went to second on a sacrifice hit.
- Liz Nace retired the side in order in the seventh to secure the Warriors' third straight win.

Top Performers
- Sophomore infielder Brittany Hebda (Kingston, Pa./Holy Redeemer) was the only River Hawk to finish with multiple hits as Hebda went 2-for-3.
- Junior Amanda Seckinger (Glenmoore, Pa./Downingtown) took her first loss of the season in the circle as Seckinger allowed four runs (one earned) on six hits with a career-high five strikeouts, one walk, one intentional walk, one hit batter, and one wild pitch.
- Brown and Kline each tallied two hits with Kline driving in three and scoring two runs. Nace improved to 7-6 on the season as she threw the complete game shutout, scattering six hits with no walks, one strikeout and one hit batter.

How It Happened
- In the nightcap, the Warriors struck first once again, taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the second. Brown came through with a two-out RBI single to right field to bring home Isabella Gackenbach, who had connected on a two-out single to centerfield and went to second on a Rachel Duda single. Duda was thrown out at third on the same play.
- Susquehanna responded in its half of the second with three runs for its first lead of the afternoon. The River Hawks' first run came off a rundown with freshman pinch runner Katie Welker (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock Township) between first and second base, allowing sophomore outfielder Katherine Fahsbender (Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXIII) to steal home and knot the game at 1-1. Welker then scored on freshman catcher Katie Koch's (West Milton, Pa./Lewisburg Area) RBI single to right field for SU's first lead of the day, 2-1. The River Hawks extended their lead to 3-1 behind freshman infielder Erin Bean's (Watchung, N.J./Watchung Hills) sacrifice fly to centerfield to bring home Hebda.
- SU notched a 4-1 advantage in the third as sophomore infielder Kody Streeter (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) crossed home plate on a Warrior error with two outs on the board.
- Lycoming took the lead in the fifth with four runs, highlighted by Darci Warriner's two-out, two RBI single up the middle and Gackenbach's two-out, two-run double to left centerfield.
- The River Hawks pulled even in the bottom of the fifth as freshman infielder Kiara Bryant (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) hit a one-out single to centerfield to bring home Fahsbender, who walked, stole second, and went to third on an error. The rally was cut short with a fly out and line out to end the inning.
- The Warriors claimed the lead for good with a pair of runs in the sixth as Klosko stroked a two-out single up the middle to score Kline and Gessner.
- SU was limited to a pair of singles and left two runners on base over the final two innings.
Inside the Box Score
- The River Hawks stole a season-best seven bases and notched five runs on seven hits but stranded nine base runners.
- Lycoming scored seven runs on 14 hits, including one double.
Top Performers
- Bryant paced SU at the plate with a season-best three hits as she finished 3-for-4 with one RBI.
- Bean also had a multiple-hit game as she went 2-for-3 as the leadoff hitter while Fahsbender scored twice.
- Senior captain Alexa Gonzalez (Northport, N.Y./Northport) dropped to 5-4 on the season as Gonzalez suffered the loss after pitching 2.1 innings of relief. She gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits with one strikeout.
- Nace recorded her second win of the afternoon as she threw the final four innings in relief, yielding one run on three hits with one strikeout and one walk. Gackenbach went 3-for-4 to lead Lycoming while Nace, Klosko, and Warriner each had two hits.
