Brittany Hebda (Kingston, Pa./Holy Redeemer) drove in four runs to lead the Susquehanna University softball team to an important Landmark Conference sweep Wednesday night. Susquehanna (15-12, 6-4 LC) posted 4-3 and 6-3 victories over the host University of Scranton Royals (23-11, 5-5 LC) to move into third in the league standings with one more Landmark doubleheader left to play.

How It Happened
- The bats were quiet for both sides through the first four innings of the game.
- Susquehanna finally broke through in the top of the fifth as freshman catcher Katie Koch (West Milton, Pa./Lewisburg Area) drew a leadoff walk, went to second on a sacrifice bunt, and advanced to third on a single to leftfield before scoring on a pinch hit single by junior Ellen Smith (Breinigsville, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) for a 1-0 River Hawk lead.
- The lead was short-lived as Scranton responded with three runs in its half of the fifth. Heather Alich highlighted the inning for the Royals with her two-out, two-run double to right center.
- SU was quick to answer in the sixth with three scores of its own as Hebda knocked in a pair of runs with a single up the middle to pull the River Hawks even at 3-3. Sophomore outfielder Katherine Fahsbender (Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXIII) then connected on a two-out single to leftfield to bring home freshman infielder Kiara Bryant (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) for the eventual go-ahead run.
- Senior captain Alexa Gonzalez (Northport, N.Y./Northport) relieved junior Amanda Seckinger (Glenmoore, Pa./Downingtown) in the bottom of the sixth. After a leadoff walk and a sacrifice bunt, Gonzalez pitched a fly out and a ground out to end the inning.
- Scranton retired the River Hawk side in order in the top of the seventh before Gonzalez returned the favor by sitting down the hosts in order to secure the win for SU.

- Eight different River Hawks collected a hit while Hebda drove in two runs.

- Gonzalez recorded her first career save as she threw two scoreless and hitless innings with one walk.
- Alich finished 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI to pace Scranton at the plate.

How It Happened
- This time around SU posted an early 4-0 lead, scoring three in the top of the first and one in the second.
- Senior designated player Jill Ahrens (Clarence, N.Y./Sacred Heart) connected on a two-out RBI single to left center and Hebda came through with a two-out, two-run double to left center to give the River Hawks the 3-0 lead.
- Another two-out double, this time off the bat of junior outfielder Kasey Bost (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty), stretched Susquehanna's lead to 4-0 in the second.
- Meaghan Dowdell kept the River Hawks in check for the next four innings, allowing Scranton to rally.
- Alich struck again with another two-run double in the bottom of the sixth to finally put the Royals on the board and the cut the deficit to 4-2.
- The Rivers Hawks built a four-run cushion in the seventh as freshman pinch runner Katie Welker (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock Township) scored on a Scranton throwing error and then Bost crossed home plate on Ahrens sacrifice fly to centerfield.
- In its half of the seventh, Mackenzie Duffy stole home to cut the lead in half with one out and a runner on third. Bubba then threw her seventh and eighth strikeouts of the game to clinch the victory for SU.

- Megan Zinn led Scranton at the plate with a 2-for-4 effort, including a double, and a run scored.
