Baseball Has Win Streak Snapped Against Arcadia

Steve Lorenz had three hits while Justin Miller, Craig Roumes and Nick Berger each had two hits, but the Susquehanna University Baseball team fell behind early and couldn't quite crawl its way back against Arcadia in an 11-6 loss Wednesday afternoon in Selinsgrove.

How It Happened
  • Neither side scored in the first inning, but Arcadia (19-12) plated three runs in the top of the second to take an early lead before scoring twice more in the third.
  • Trailing 5-0, the River Hawks (15-12) scored three big runs on a Lorenz two-run double and a Burman RBI single to cut into the deficit.
  • The score would remain the same headed into the seventh inning, but a big home run by Phil Pierfy made it 8-3. Susquehanna did manage to get those runs back however and made it a game at 8-6 after seven innings of play. Anthony Dombrowski and Lorenz each recorded RBI in the inning.
  • Unfortunately for the River Hawks, this is as close as they would get, as Arcadia scored three more times and the team could not bring anyone home in the bottom half of the inning. The loss snapped an eight-game winning streak.
Inside the Box Score
  • Lorenz led the way with three hits, including a booming double to right center field in the third inning. Roumes, Miller, and Berger all had solid days at the dish with two hits apiece.
  • Evan McKenna and Will Carey combined to throw three shutout innings for the River Hawks to lead the players on the bump this afternoon.
  • Pierfy hit his second and third home runs of the season for the Knights to lead their bats.

Up Next for the River Hawks
