Knapp Hits Go-Ahead Double as Baseball Fends off Albright

Evan Knapp hit a go-ahead RBI double to break a 6-6 tie in the sixth inning and Nick Berger followed with another RBI double to give the River Hawks some breathing room as the Susquehanna University Baseball team never looked back and defeated Albright 9-7 Tuesday afternoon in Reading.

How It Happened
  • The Lions (10-22) plated the first run in the bottom of the second inning to take an early 1-0 lead. The River Hawks rallied back with five runs in the third to take a commanding advantage. Anthony Dombrowski got it going with an RBI infield single. Two batters later, Alex Burman brought in Craig Roumes with a bases loaded walk. Ben Burman and Peter Yarem also got run scoring hits in the inning.
  • Albright would bounce back in the fourth inning, putting up five runs that was capped off by a grand slam to tie it up at six.
  • The score would remain that way until the sixth inning when Knapp drove home Chris Corrado to break the tie. Berger followed that with an RBI double and Alex Burman also added an RBI to give the team a few runs to work with.
  • It turned out, the River Hawks didn't need a sizeable advantage to come out on top in this one, as Evan McKenna, Luke Tuttle and Bobby Grigas gave up just one unearned run amongst three of them to win 9-7. The victory is the team's 10th of its last 11 games and they are 15-5 in their last 20 games.
Inside the Box Score
  • Five River Hawks had multi-hit games and the team finished with 13 in total. Nick Berger, Alex Burman and Peter Yarem all had two RBI and Corrado scored three runs.
  • McKenna was impressive in relief in this one, throwing three innings with just an unearned run given up. Tuttle worked around an error in the eighth and Grigas mowed down the order in the ninth.
