River Hawk Men's Tennis Successful on Senior Day, Secures No. 4 Seed

Selinsgrove, Pa. – The Susquehanna University men's tennis team makes the Landmark Conference Men's Tennis Championship Tournament for the second straight season following their win on Senior Day. Susquehanna (13-4, 4-3 LC) posted a 6-3 victory over The Catholic University of America (3-11, 1-6 LC) to secure the No. 4 seed in the upcoming conference playoffs.
 
As the fourth seed, the River Hawks will face top-seeded and three-time defending Landmark champion, Goucher College, on Tuesday, April 30, in Towson, Md., at 4:00 p.m.
 
Prior to the match, SU's six seniors – Alex Cocolas (High Bridge, N.J./Voorhees), Ashton Collins (Biddeford, Maine/Biddeford), Alex Dove (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley), Nicholas Meale (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area), Ben Ornstein (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley), and Ryan Seibert (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) – were recognized for their dedication to the program.

How It Happened
Doubles
  • The duo of Meale and freshman Emil Vyskocil (Cornwall-on-the-Hudson, N.Y./Cornwall) continued their strong play, starting off the match for Susquehanna with an 8-2 win at the third flight.
  • The River Hawks doubled their lead with Cocolas and Dove's 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles before Catholic got on the board with an 8-6 triumph at the second spot.
 
Singles
  • The Cardinals evened up the team match with straight-set victory at No. 1 singles before CUA claimed its first lead with a straight-set win at No. 3 singles.
  • Dove evened up the match at 3-3 with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles.
  • Cocolas then returned the lead to SU, 4-3, with his 6-1, 6-2 triumph at No. 4 singles.
  • Vyskocil notched the team match win for the River Hawks with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles for the 5-3 home team lead.
  • Seibert outlasted Will Mulquin, 6-1, 1-6, 6-2 for the final point of the team match and his team-leading 14th win of the season.
