Box Score Nick Berger picked up two hits and two RBI and Will Carey threw six solid innings in relief, but the Susquehanna University Baseball team gave up three runs in the first inning on zero hits and fell 5-2 to Shenandoah Monday afternoon in Selinsgrove.

How It Happened

• The Hornets (25-11) scored early, as they walked twice and had a batter hit by a pitch to load the bases with two outs before another walk brought in the first run of the game. The next two runs scored on wild pitches and the River Hawks (17-15) trailed 3-0 despite Sean Rodriguez managing to strike out the side.
• The score remained the same until the third inning, when Shenandoah scored on another wild pitch, then tacked on a solo home run in the fifth inning to make it 5-0.
• The River Hawks put together a rally in the sixth inning, with a Craig Roumes single and an Alec Ranck double to get things started. Berger then proceeded to single up the middle to drive in both runs and trim it to 5-2.
• Carey pitched well in relief, keeping the Hornet hitters at bay, but the River Hawks could not get anything going offensively and fell 5-2. Shenandoah starter Carson Kulina pitched 8 2/3 innings to pick up the win.

• Berger was the only River Hawk with a multi-hit effort while Carey gave up only one run in six innings in relief. Both Rodriguez and Carey had four strikeouts on the afternoon.
• Craig Roumes reached base two times with a walk and a hit.
