How It Happened
  • Bost drove in the River Hawks first run of the game with her 100th career hit – a one-out single down the leftfield line – before coming home on sophomore infielder Kody Streeter's (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) two-run single up the middle for a 3-0 SU lead in the top of the first inning.
  • Elizabethtown got all three runs back in its half of the first as Emma Varrato's three-run home run over the centerfield fence. Senior captain Alexa Gonzalez (Northport, N.Y./Northport) walked the next two batters before freshman Katie Murphy (Havre de Grace, Md./C. Milton Wright) relieved Gonzalez and retired the next three batters in order to get Susquehanna out of the jam and end the inning.
  • The contest remained tied until the bottom of the fourth inning when Varrato struck again, this time with a two-out, two-run dinger down the leftfield line.
  • Amber Sergas silenced the River Hawk bats in the final three innings, limiting SU to just three additional hits.
