Hunter Pitman (White Haven, Pa./Crestwood) scored early off an assist from senior forward
Heather Casey (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) but the Susquehanna University field hockey team dropped a tough 2-1 overtime decision to Wilkes University Friday afternoon in the opening game of the Eighth Annual Connie Harnum Classic.
Wilkes (1-0) will now face No. 7 Salisbury University (1-0) in Saturday's championship game at 2:00 p.m. as Salisbury handed Kean University a 3-0 setback. The River Hawks (0-1) will take on Kean (0-1) in the consolation game at 12:00 p.m.

How It Happened
- Wilkes claimed the sudden victory just 42 seconds into overtime as Lauren Baldwin found the back of the cage to give the Colonels the season-opening win.
- The River Hawks struck early as Casey sent in a pass from the end line to the penalty stroke spot and Pitman finished for her first goal of the season just four minutes into the game.
- Wilkes went on to score just four minutes later as Ali Dunn deflected in Maddie Kelly's cross from the right side to make the score after the first quarter of play, 1-1.
- Both teams remained scoreless for the remainder of the game as senior goalkeeper Emily DiGaetano (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) made five stops over the final three quarters on nine shots faced, forcing the game into sudden victory overtime.
