Susquehanna Field Hockey Falls to Kean in Connie Harnum Classic Consolation

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna University field hockey team's trio of goalkeepers combined for nine stops in the consolation game of the Eighth Annual Connie Harnum Classic Saturday afternoon. Susquehanna (0-2) suffered another tough loss, dropping a 3-0 setback to Kean University (1-1).
 
No. 7 Salisbury University notched a 4-1 win over Wilkes University to capture the Harnum Classic while Jillian Hughes earned Tournament MVP honors. Salisbury's Rachel Domanico, Wilkes' Lauren Baldwin, Kean's Brenna Delbagno, and senior forward Heather Casey (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) were all named to the Connie Harnum Classic All-Tournament Team.

How It Happened
  • Melissa Way's hat trick and Peyton Mann's two assists lifted the Cougars to their first win of the season.
  • Kean owned a 2-0 advantage in the first 13 minutes of the game, converting quickly in the first quarter at 4:06 and then again at 12:13. Way and Mann combined on the first two scores.
  • The River Hawks kept Kean off the scoreboard for the next 36 minutes but couldn't sustain any offensive momentum.
  • Way scored again in the third quarter to solidify the win for the Cougars.
