SALISBURY, Md. – The Susquehanna University volleyball team downed Clark University, 3-0, in their first match of the new season while falling to host Salisbury University, 3-1, at the Salisbury Sea Gull Classic Friday night. First-year outside hitter
Rosina Esposito (Coraopolis, Pa./Montour) shined for the River Hawks in her collegiate debut with 29 kills and 31.5 points on the night.

How It Happened
- The River Hawks (1-1) outscored Clark (0-2), 59-29, to claim a 3-0 season-opening victory.
- In the first set, Susquehanna dominated with a quick 25-8 victory, recording 17 kills and a .419 attack percentage as a team.
- Clark posed a threat in the second set, recording 13 kills but SU was able to hold on for 25-23 win.
- Susquehanna again dominated, notching 15 kills to just eight by the Cougars.

- Esposito led the team against Clark in kills with 13 while sophomores Paige Sfiroudis (Merrick, N.Y./Calhoun) and Kody Dillion (Bear Del./Caravel Academy) had nine and eight, respectively. Sfiroudis also paced SU with four blocks.
- Senior setter Lindsey Pugh (Bear, Del./Caravel Academy) dominated all players with 31 assists while junior libero Lizzie Herestofa (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) recorded a team-best nine digs.
- Clark's leaders were Claudia Rivera with 11 kills, Sophia Torino with 12 assists, and Marimo Oka with nine digs.

How It Happened
- Susquehanna fell to Salisbury (2-0) in four sets despite being comparable to the Sea Gulls in every offensive category. Salisbury's efficiency on attack allowed them to slip past the River Hawks for the win.
- The River Hawks rallied from an 8-2 deficit and rolled to a 25-16 victory in the first set.
- Salisbury edged Susquehanna by only three points, 25-22, in the second set by securing the final three points of the set.
- Kills by Chloe Adam and Carley Cleland secured a 26-24 triumph for the Sea Gulls in the third set, tallying 18 kills and a .255 hitting percentage to Susquehanna's 14 and .152 attack percentage.
- Amanda Chew recorded two kills and a block assist in the final three points of the fourth set to help Salisbury finish out its rally with a 25-23 win in the final set.
Inside the Box Score
- Esposito and junior right-side hitter Sydney Portale (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) paced the River Hawks with 16 kills each.
- Pugh collected a match-best 37 assists while Herestofa tallied a team-best 20 digs and a match-high five aces.
