Susquehanna Volleyball Goes 3-0 at Hampton Inn River Hawk Classic

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna University volleyball team picked up two wins against No. 23 Clarkson University and No. 24 Ithaca College in day two of the Hampton Inn River Hawks Classic Saturday. Junior right-side hitter

How It Happened
- The River Hawks (12-3) took down No. 23 Clarkson University (12-3) for a 3-0 victory.
- In the first set, the Golden Knights put up a tough fight with 14 kills to Susquehanna's 16 making the River Hawks work to a 26-24 victory.
- SU was able to take set two 25-21, with 18 kills to the Golden Knights 12
- The River Hawks dominated set three with a quick 25-12 victory recording a .312 attack percentage and 15 kills.
Inside the Box Score
- Esposito and Portale led the team against Clarkson in kills with 14 and 13 respectively.
- Esposito also lead the team in digs with 15.
- Clarkson's leaders were Rachel Reusch with 11 kills and Kate Isaksen with 20 digs.

How It Happened
- Susquehanna claimed the four-set victory after a battle with the Bombers in each set.
- Ithaca took the first set 26-24 after recording 15 kills to Susquehanna's 14.
- Susquehanna had to work past a tough Bomber defense team to take set two 25-22, recording 11 kills to Ithaca's 15.
- The Bombers posed a threat in set three only falling to the River Hawks 26-24.
- The River hawks were victorious in set four, 25-23, thanks to the "upperclassman leadership that was instrumental in maintaining the team's composure," according to head coach Kuuipo Tom.

- Esposito lead the team in kills with 16 while Portale was also in double digits with 13.
- Pugh collected a team-best 20 digs while Lizzie Herestofa (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) recorded 18 of her own.
- Kody Dillon (Bear, Del./Caravel Academy) recorded a match-best nine blocks.
- Reagan Stone lead the match in kills with 19 and aces with three, while Jordyn Lyn Hayashi recorded a match-best 26 digs.
