Susquehanna Volleyball Goes 3-0 for a Second Weekend in a Row

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna University volleyball team picked up two wins against Stevens Institute of Technology and Hunter College in day two of the PSECU River Hawk Invitational Saturday. Junior right-side hitter

How It Happened
- The River Hawks (15-3) took down Stevens Institute of Technology (7-7) for a 3-1 victory.
- In the first set, Susquehanna took down the Ducks 25-21 as SU put up just 11 kills to Stevens 15.
- SU was able to take set two 25-18, with 19 kills to the Ducks 11.
- Stevens battled back in set three taking the set 25-23 recording 16 kills and a .279 attack percentage.
- The River Hawks had to fight for set four, edging past the Ducks 25-23 with 20 kills and a .455 attack percentage to take the match.

- Portale led the team against Stevens with 18 kills while first-year Rosina Esposito (Coraopolis, Pa./Montour) and sophomore Brooke LaCesa (York, Pa. / Eastern) were also in double digits with 16 apiece.
- Lizzie Herestofa (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) lead the team in digs with 18.
- Stevens leaders were Shelby Stewart with 14 kills and Elizabeth Chu with 18 digs.

How It Happened
- Susquehanna claimed the 3-0 victory after three tough sets against the Hawks.
- Susquehanna had to work past a tough Hunter defense to take the first set 25-18, recording 14 kills to Hunter's 10.
- The River Hawks again took set two 25-18 scoring on 15 kills.
- Hunter posed a threat in the third set, but it was the River Hawks that came out victorious with a 25-19 set victory.
Inside the Box Score
- Portale again led the team in kills with 14 and Kody Dillon (Bear, Del./Caravel Academy) had eight.
- Herestofa collected a team-best 18 digs while Dillon had two blocks and Caroline Beohm (Lancaster, Pa. / Garden Spot) recorded three service aces.
- Isabelle Lawrence lead Hunter in kills with eight while Sunghee Cho recorded a match-best 20 digs.
