UNION, N.J. – Senior pitchers
Tyson Thrush (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) and
Bobby Grigas (Frackville, Pa./North Schuylkill) combined for 12 strikeouts Saturday afternoon to lead the Susquehanna University baseball team to their first win of the 2020 season. Susquehanna (1-2) shut out Haverford College (0-2), 5-0, Saturday afternoon as four different River Hawks connected on two hits each.

How It Happened
- The River Hawks began with a 1-0 lead in the top of the first after a two-out, RBI single through the left side by senior Craig Roumes (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury) to bring home junior Steve Lorenz (Feasterville-Trevose, Pa./William Penn Charter), who reached base on a walk.
- Susquehanna tacked on three runs in the fourth for a 4-0 lead as junior Peter Yarem (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) started the scoring with an RBI triple to score Roumes before Yarem crossed home plate on an RBI by sophomore Evan Knapp (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood). Senior Anthony Dombrowski (Pompton Plains, N.J./Don Bosco) notched the final run of the inning as Dombrowski scored on a passed ball after drawing a walk and stealing both second and third.
- Haverford picked up its only hit of the game in the bottom of the sixth when the Fords' lead-off hitter, Will Karp, hit a one-out single up the middle.
- Sophomore Adam Schreck (Manasquan, N.J./Manasquan) led off the eighth inning with a triple to right center before coming home on a sacrifice fly by Roumes.
- Grigas, who relieved Thrush in the seventh, retired the last nine batters in order to put the game away.
Inside the Box Score
- SU scored five runs on 10 hits, including a season-best two triples, and stole three bases while making no errors on defense.
- The Fords had just one hit and one error with two stolen bases in their second game of the season.
- Susquehanna stranded six on base while Haverford left four on base.

- Junior Chris Corrado (Tuckahoe, N.Y./Tuckahoe), Schreck, Roumes, and Knapp all finished with two hits while Roumes drove in two runs.
- Thrush (1-0) notched his first win of the season with a one-hit gem as he struck out a career-best seven in 6.0 innings with only two walks.
- Grigas threw 3.0 innings of hitless relief with five strikeouts and one walk for the save.
