Volleyball Ups Win Streak To Seven With Sweep Of Wentworth, Skidmore Saturday

BABSON PARK, MA (October 16, 2021) -- The Susquehanna University women's volleyball team kept their winning ways going Saturday, upping its win streak to seven games with a pair of three-set sweeps of both Wentworth Institute of Technology and Skidmore College in play from Babson College. It was the second consecutive weekend that the River Hawks have gone 3-0 on a weekend quad match, as SU also knocked off host Babson College Friday evening.

Match 1: Susquehanna 3, Wentworth 0
Senior Riley O'Dowd and junior Rosina Esposito combined for 20 kills and the squad posted 12 blocks for the match as the defensive unit help dominate Wentworth Institute of Technology in a three-set victory. 

The River Hawks hit .253 for the match, but forced Wentworth into only 26 kills with 25 hitting errors. In the opening set, SU hit .333 with nine kills on 24 attempts, erring just once, while Wentworth posted 12 hitting errors. SU would control play for the remainder of the match, rolling to the win. 

Esposito finished with her 13th double-double of the season, registering 10 kills and a team-high 16 digs while hitting .500. O'Dowd added 10 terminations, while Lizzie Herestofa finished with two aces and 10 digs. Madison Rockey dished out 21 assists for the match, Brooke Lacesa and Paige Sfiroudis each added seven blocks apiece. Keira Roach also led the team with three service aces. 

Match 2: Susquehanna 3, Skidmore 0
Susquehanna posted 22 kills in the opening set, using that momentum to catapult to a three-set victory over Skidmore College. Esposito chalked up another double-double with 14 kills and 10 digs, adding two sets, while O'Dowd totaled eight kills and three digs. 

Senior Kody Dillon finished with a hitting percentage of .400, posting seven kills on 15 attempts, and LaCesa totaled five kills and four total blocks. Libero Lizzie Herestofa led the team with 12 digs, and Rockey added 22 assists and four digs as well.
