SELINSGROVE, PA - The Men's Soccer team dropped a physical contest with the Drew University Rangers, losing 3-1. The team played competitively with the Rangers throughout the 90 minute game, but could not convert on their chances on the offensive end and keep up with Drew the goal tally.
After 30 minutes of both teams struggling to find their footing offensively, the Ranger offense came through in the 34th minute as Tyler Watson connected on his first goal of the season, as Thomas Zurkowski found him inside the box off a corner kick. A little over two minutes later, Zurkowski scored a goal of his own when Ryan LaRocca's throw in found Brandon Jimenez who passed to an open Zurkowski for the goal.
With time winding down in the first half, the River Hawks were able to draw a foul just outside the box.
Michael Morelli took the free kick and delivered a strike to the top of the goal, just over the outstretched arm of the Drew goalkeeper, cutting the Ranger lead in half just before the end of the first period.
After more physical play and opportunities at the goal for each squad, Drew was able to tally a big insurance goal, as defender Dan Bacon notched his first goal of the year off a corner kick. With the two goal lead in the 56th minute, the game turned heavily in their favor.
Over the final 34 minutes of the game, the River Hawks were able to rattle off six more shot attempts, but to no avail. The team was able to outshoot the Rangers over the the 90 minute game 15-10, but could not find the back of the net outside of the Morelli goal
Other Notes
- Kevin Ayoso led Susquehanna in shot attempts on Saturday, with three, and five other River Hawks attempted two shots each.
- Gerrit Stech recorded four saves in net, as his record at goalkeeper fell to 4-3-1 in the loss.

- The Men's Soccer team will head to Gettysburg, PA on Tuesday, October 5 to take on the Bullets of Gettysburg College in a non-conference matchup at 7 p.m.
