SELINSGROVE, PA - The Susquehanna Field Hockey team posted a commanding win over Concordia University of Wisconsin on Sunday, scoring five goals and matching a season-high with 28 shots. The team has now won five straight games and eight of their last nine.

From the first whistle, it was clear that the River Hawks had the advantage and would dominate the game on both ends of the field. The first goal of the game came at the 10 minute mark, when a shot was saved by Concordia and rebounded to Annalee Smith, who sank the second chance opportunity.

After the strong offensive pressure continued throughout the rest of the first quarter and the outset of the second quarter, Rebecca Ripans connected on her third goal of the year. After another saved shot, Ripans corralled the rebound and attempted a shot that was saved. On the second rebound, the first-year finally got a shot to hit the back of the net, extending the Susquehanna lead to 2-0.

At the half, the dominance from the River Hawks was clear as they attempted 15 shots and earned six corners, while Concordia attempted no shots and were only awarded one corner.

In the third quarter, Ripans found the net once more, this time off the stick of Sophia Prata, to increase the lead to 3-0. The assist was the first of Prata's career, and the goal gave Ripans her fourth of the season.

Smith found the goal once more as well in the fourth quarter, as the senior defender scored from the right side of the box off an assist from Sarah McAndrews. The final goal of the day was scored by Katie Bucher, who dribbled through the Concordia defense and fired a shot from just inside the top of the box, scoring her second goal of the year.
