Season High Five Goals Powers Women's Soccer to Win Over SUNY Brockport

SELINSGROVE, PA - The Women's Soccer Team poured five goals on the SUNY Brockport defense, defeating the Golden Eagles by a final score of 5-2 on Tuesday. Four different River Hawks scored goals on the evening, taking an impressive win over the team from Brockport.

The scoring began early for Susquehanna, as Samantha Chillis was able to find Gillian Maack in the center of the box for an easy score in the 5th minute. The early goal opened up what would be an exceptional offensive day for the offense, as they took advantage of several good looks throughout the 90 minute affair.

In the 15th minute, Emily Wertz tallied her second goal of the year with a strike after an excellent pass from Mackenzie Dickey led her right to the goal. Even after Brockport responded with a goal just over a minute later, the offensive attack didn't stop.In the 18th minute, Anna Werner found the back of the net, as a deep pass from midfield off the foot of Marley Clendenin found Werner after the ball bounced over a pair of Brockport defenders.

The Werner goal was the final of the first half, giving the River Hawks a nice cushion heading into halftime. When the second half began, the game continued to favor Susquehanna, as they were in control of possesion throughout the start of the period.

In the 65th minute, however, the Golden Eagles pulled themselves right back into the ball game as Kiley Longin connected on a deep goal to cut the River Hawk lead in half. Even after the goal made the game just a one score affair, the team did not stop their aggresive offensive approach.

In the 78th minute, Olivia Ricci was able to get through the Brockport defense and found Wertz wide open at the center of the box for her second goal of the game, bringing the lead back to two goals with 12 minutes left. Just two minutes later, Ricci got her first goal of her collegeiate career as Chillis dropped the ball into the box for Maack who headed the ball to Ricci, cconnecting with the back of the net with a header of her own. With 10 minutes to go, the final two goals put the game on ice, stopping any thoughts of a SUNY Brockport comeback or win.
