SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna University men's tennis team continued their winning ways Saturday afternoon as the River Hawks commenced Landmark Conference action. Susquehanna (2-0, 1-0 LC) picked up a 7-2 victory over the Cardinals of The Catholic University of America (0-1, 0-1 LC), marking SU's fifth straight win dating back to fall 2019.

Sophomores
John Duncan (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) and
Joshua Sanderson (Mount Wolf, Pa./Northeastern) gave the River Hawks a 1-0 lead following a dominant 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles for their first doubles win of the season.
Catholic tied it up at 1-1 with an 8-3 victory at No. 1 doubles by senior
Frankie Fortunati and first-year
Allan van Nostrand.
SU headed into singles action with a 2-1 advantage after junior
Ethan Cooley (Califon, N.J./Voorhees) and first-year
Tim Basta (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) dispatched an 8-5 triumph at No. 3 doubles.
Singles
The Cardinals knotted it one last time when
van Nostrand claimed a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles, handing
Sanderson his first loss of the season. Susquehanna then won five straight on its way to the 7-2 Landmark victory.
Basta improved to 2-0 on the season with a hard-fought three-set win at No. 3 singles, taking the first set, 6-2, before falling 3-6 in the second, and rallying with a 6-2 victory.
Cooley won in straight sets at No. 5 singles, claiming the first set, 6-2, before needing a tiebreaker set to seal the second set win, 7-6 (3).
