BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Susquehanna University baseball team began their four-game series with Moravian College Saturday afternoon by splitting the first doubleheader. Susquehanna (6-5, 6-2 LC), who hasn't played since April 5 due to COVID-19 protocols, claimed the first game, 4-3, while the Greyhounds (6-11, 6-6 LC) won the nightcap, 3-2.
GAME 1
How It Happened
Susquehanna drew first blood with three runs in the top of the second. Sophomore
Brock Veit (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) knocked in a run with a double to bring home junior
Adam Schreck (Manasquan, N.J./Manasquan), who was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. A sacrifice fly by fifth-year senior
Craig Roumes (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury) then scored first-year
Michael Mancuso (Hawthorne, N.Y./Westlake) for a 2-0 SU lead. The third run came on an RBI single by fifth-year senior
Justin Miller (Rockaway, N.J./Seton Hall Prep).
The 3-0 lead by the visitors held until the bottom of the fifth when the Greyhounds posted two runs on a two-out RBI single by
Derek Holmes to cut the deficit to 3-2.
Susquehanna's eventual game-winning run came in the sixth as first-year
Kris Morrow (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) crossed home plate on a Moravian error. The Greyhounds also scored in the sixth as the hosts also capitalized on error to keep it a one-run game.
The River Hawks notched the 4-3 victory as both pitchers sat down the lineups in order in the seventh.
Inside the Box Score
SU notched four runs on five hits and two sacrifice hits with three errors. The River Hawks drew four walks and stranded seven runners on base. Moravian tallied three runs on three hits with one error. The Greyhounds earned six walks and left eight runners on base.

Five different players notched hits for Susquehanna while
Veit drove in two runs. First-year
Aidan Martin (Washington Township, N.J./Bergen Catholic) threw 1.1 innings of hitless relief and earned his first career win as a River Hawk while fellow classmate
Adam Stuck (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) faced three batters and fanned one in recording his first career save with 1.0 inning of work.
Three different Greyhounds each had a single while
Holmes notched two RBI.
Rodney Berger (1-3) was saddled with the loss after giving up three runs (all earned) on three hits in 4.2 innings.
GAME 2
How It Happened
A two-out solo shot by
Brett Moyer gave Moravian the 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth.
The home team's one-run advantage did not stand long as the River Hawks responded with two runs in the fifth after starting the inning with three straight hits.
Schreck brought home
Morrow, who hit a lead-off double, with a single and then a one-out single by
Roumes drove in
Mancuso for the 2-1 SU lead.
Moravian reclaimed the lead with two runs in the sixth thanks to an RBI double by
Moyer and an RBI double by
Nick Montone.
The River Hawks put two runners on base in the seventh but were unable to add any more runs to the scoreboard and the Greyhounds earned the 3-2 win.

The River Hawks notched two runs on seven hits with one error and left five on base. Moravian scored three runs on eight hits with no errors while also leaving five runners stranded.
Top Performers
Morrow and
Schreck each went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead SU offensively with
Morrow scoring a run and
Schreck driving in a run. Sophomore
Dominic Yeager (Reading, Pa./Reading) took the loss on the mound despite a career-best five strikeouts, falling to 1-1 on the season.
Moyer, Holmes, and
Montone all collected two hits for the Greyhounds with
Moyer contributing two RBI and scoring two runs.
Eddie Olsen (3-1) went the distance for Moravian, fanning four batters and scattering two runs on seven hits.
