SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna University baseball team was swept by Moravian College on Sunday afternoon and Moravian claimed the Landmark Conference series, winning three of four this weekend. Susquehanna (6-7, 6-4 LC) lost the first game, 12-3, before falling short in a 6-4 loss to the Greyhounds (8-11, 8-6 LC) in the nightcap.
GAME 1
How It Happened
Moravian used a four-run first inning and a five-run seventh inning to boast a 12-0 advantage after seven innings of action.
The River Hawks avoided the shutout with three runs in the home half of the eighth. First-year
Lance Book (Sugarloaf, Pa./Hazleton Area) hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield to score first-year
Michael Biuso (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville), who singled in his first career at-bat.
The next run came in on first-year
Andrew Mancini's (Washington Crossing, Pa./Council Rock North) infield single in
Mancini's first-ever plate appearance, bringing home first-year
Kris Morrow (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic).
Mancini then crossed home plate for Susquehanna's third and final run on a double by junior
Adam Schreck (Manasquan, N.J./Manasquan).
Inside the Box Score
Susquehanna did not struggle at the plate, delivering 12 hits, but committed a season-high six errors. The Greyhounds notched 12 runs on eight hits with no errors.

Chico Mendoza (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) combined for eight strikeouts in the loss with
Monroy being dealt the loss after giving up five runs (three earned) on four hits in 2.1 innings.
Brett Moyer was the top hitter for Moravian as
Moyer went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI.
David Ciaccio (2-1) picked up the win as
Ciaccio struck out six River Hawks in 7.2 innings.
GAME 2
How It Happened
The Greyhounds once again had a big opening as Moravian scored three in the first and then added two more in the third for a 5-0 lead through the top of the third inning.
A two-RBI single through the right side by fifth-year senior
Justin Miller (Rockaway, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) in the home half of the third and a two-RBI double by sophomore
Brock Veit (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) in the bottom of the fourth pulled the River Hawks within 5-4.
Moravian tacked on an insurance run in their half of the sixth as
Mason Fisher came home on an error, after reaching on an error as the inning's lead-off hitter.
Susquehanna was limited to just two base runners and one hit over the final two innings.
Inside the Box Score
The River Hawks collected another five stolen bases while scoring 11 runs on nine hits, including four extra-base hits, with eight RBI. Elizabethtown also had solid base running with six bags of its own while tallying six runs on five hits with six RBI. The Blue Jays did leave 12 players stranded.

Peter Yarem (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains Fanwood) led SU offensively, going 3-for-4, while
Biuso was 2-for-3 with a run in his first career start.
Miller and
Veit drove in two runs. First-year
Brice Gregory (Abingdon, Md./Concordia Prep) threw 5.0 innings of relief with a season-best five strikeouts, giving up an unearned run on four hits.
Moyer once again paced Moravian, this time going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while
Thomas Philipps drove in two runs.
Kevin Brandt (1-1) earned the win with 3.2 innings of work, allowing four runs (all earned) on seven hits with two strikeouts, while
Kyle Serman recorded his third save of the season with 3.2 innings of scoreless relief and two strikeouts.
