HUMMELS WHARF, Pa. – The Susquehanna University women's golf team competed for the first time in 534 days Monday afternoon, taking on Juniata College in a Landmark Conference dual match at the Susquehanna Valley Country Club. The River Hawks (1-0, 1-0 LC) claimed the victory, 377-415, over Juniata (0-1, 0-1 LC).
Susquehanna was golfing for the first time since October 19, 2019, at the Landmark Fall Preview in Queenstown, Md.
Leading the River Hawks was sophomore
Davis Ann Boyd (Pittsburgh, Pa./Newton (N.J.)) who posted an 89 to finish second out of nine golfers. Senior captain
Sarah Rieder (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) wasn't far behind, carding a 91 for third place. Junior
Ella Moores (Abbottstown, Pa.) was close on the heels of
Boyd and
Rieder with a 95 for fourth.
Rounding out the team scoring was sophomore
Julie Nield (Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) who was fifth with a 102.
Juniata's sophomore
Sofia Amoroso captured medalist honors with a 17-over 87.
Susquehanna returns to action on Friday, April 9, with a dual match against University of Scranton at the Susquehanna Valley Country Club. Tee time is 1:00 p.m.
