Men's Soccer Takes First Road Loss of 2021

York, Pa. – Susquehanna University's Men's Soccer team played their first road game of the year on Saturday afternoon and fell to York College of Pennsylvania 4-1. Owen Healey (Summit, NJ/Summit) scored the lone goal for the River Hawks, connecting with the back of the net just before the end of regulation.

The game was York's throughout as they started the scoring early, with a goal from Matt Zeiders in the 8th minute. Sean Metz followed that up with goal in the 30th minute to put the Spartans up 2-0 heading into halftime. Goals in the 66th and 75th minute put the match too far out of reach for Susquehanna, leading to an eventual York win.

Despite the large margin of goal, the River Hawk offense was able to get chances near the goal, as they took 10 shots, with four being on goal. The Spartans got off eight shots on goal, doubling the Susquehanna total, as they connected on half of those chances. They amassed 14 total shots over 90 minutes.

Gerrit Stech (Paradise, PA/Clarkstown North) recorded three saves in net, while Santiago Andino (North Brunswick, NJ) made his collegiate debut and stopped a shot in his first 14 minutes of action.

Other Notes
  • Brian McKee (Brewster, NY/Brewster) recorded two shots on goal, while Jon Mickens (Sciota, PA/Pleasant Valley) recorded a shot on goal for the River Hawk offense.
