DALLAS, PA (September 21, 2021) -- The Susquehanna University men's tennis team kept its winning ways going Tuesday afternoon at Misericordia University, as the River Hawks earned wins in all nine matches to take the team score 9-0 in non-conference action from the MU Courts.
Kyle Watner and
Carson Barry cruised to a win at No. 3 doubles to get the match going, earning an 8-0 win, while
Joshua Sanderson and
Emil Vyskocil topped Zack Hemond and Matt McCaffery 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. Susquehanna (3-0) would earn the clean sweep of doubles, as
Tim Basta and
Ethan Cooley picked up a win at No. 2 doubles with an 8-4 win over Landon Browning and Peyton Argot.
In singles, Susquehanna took a 4-0 lead as Wagner cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win and Sanderson would clinch the victory for the River Hawks with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles. Barry earned wins in 12 of the 13 games at No. 6 for a 6-0, 6-1 win, and Basta breezed to a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles.
The most entertaining match came at No. 1 singles, as Vyskocil won the first set 6-4 but dropped the second in a tie-break 7-6 (5). In the super-tiebreaker, Vyskocil pulled away for a 10-6 win to secure the 9-0 sweep for the River Hawks.
SU has now won 17 of 18 singles matches so far in 2021, earning victories in all but one of the nine doubles matches on the year.
