BETHLEHEM, PA (October 1, 2022) – Susquehanna Women's Soccer entered Saturday on a five-game shutout win streak and that form held true yet again for the River Hawks, as they visited Moravian University and came away with a 2-0 victory.
The River Hawks were on the front foot from the start, as Delaney Morton forced a save on the first shot of the game in the sixth minute. Moravian would apply some pressure in response with their only two shots of the half, one of which drew a save from Paisley Tornatore, the only one that would be required of her during the game. It would be Morton who would break through with the first score of the game, finding the net in the 31st minute and scoring in her second consecutive game.
The score remained 1-0 into halftime. The River Hawks came out in renewed pursuit of a second goal earning two corner kicks and tallying two shots in the opening moments of the second half, before the second goal came from the foot of Gillian Maack, who won a header just outside the box, played a one-two pass and was put through on goal, making easy work of the finish and doubling the lead.
The River Hawks did not let up from their pursuit of goal, continuing to pile up shots as the clock wound down, looking more likely to find a third goal before Moravian would find a first.
Now 8-3 on the season and 2-0 in the Landmark Conference, the River Hawks will continue their extended stretch of road games, with three more on the schedule before they next return home. They'll visit Penn College on Wednesday, October 5 for their next game, kicking off a 7 pm. Their next Landmark match will take them to Goucher College on Saturday, October 8 at 4 pm.
