WILLIAMSPORT, PA (October 5, 2022) – Women's soccer traveled to Williamsport on Wednesday night riding some significant streaks, having won six games in a row and earned shutouts in all of them. Those streaks continued as they took a dominant 4-0 victory over Penn College.
The River Hawks had their foot on the gas from the opening whistle, tallying seven shots in the first half and scoring the opening goal in the 13th minute, with two more to come in the half. Marley Clendenin scored the first, getting an assist from Delaney Morton, who has registered a point in each of SU's last four matches. They would tally again just a few minutes later, when junior Mikela Florio scored her fifth goal of the season in the 21st minute.
Less than two minutes later, Clendenin would score again from a Gillian Maack assist, giving Susquehanna a strong 3-0 advantage only a quarter into the match. Despite their dominance on the scoreboard, SU's backline would be tested in a few instances, but senior goalkeeper Carlie Marquette proved more than up to the challenge, saving all four of the Wildcats' shots on goal.
The River Hawks took some time before scoring their fourth, with it coming in the 62nd minute, as Maack scored a goal of her own, this time switching roles with Clendenin, who provided the assist and tallied her third point of the night.
SU has now completed three of their five consecutive road games, with the two remaining being Goucher College on Saturday the 8th at 4 pm and Juniata College on Wednesday the 12th at 7 pm.
