TOWSON, MD (October 8, 2022) – The River Hawks traveled to Maryland on Saturday afternoon for a Landmark Conference matchup with Goucher College. The Gophers would ultimately deal Susquehanna their eighth loss of the season, sending them back to Selinsgrove after a 2-0 loss.
Goucher got out to a strong start in the first half, with eight shots in the opening frame. The River Hawks had just one in comparison. Goalkeeper Gerrit Stech would make two saves in the first half and finished the match with five, but Goucher would keep up the pressure and break through with their scores in the second half. They tallied in the 58th and 72nd minutes, taking a firm grip in the second half.
The River Hawks would put up just six shots in the game with none on target, unable to test the Goucher goalkeeper. The Gophers finished with 15 and seven on goal, able to convert extended stints of possession into more opportunities.
Susquehanna falls to 0-8-3 overall and 0-2-1 in the Landmark after the loss, continuing to seek their first win of the season. Their next opportunity will come midweek, as they travel to face Penn College on Wednesday the 12th for a 7 pm kickoff. They'll return home again for their next Landmark match on Saturday the 15th, hosting the Cardinals of Catholic University and kicking off at 1 pm.
