Kaitlyn Lynch posted a career high 23 points on Saturday afternoon, leading the River Hawks to a 77-39 win over Goucher. The 38 point win marks the largest margin of victory since their win over Goucher by 53 points in the 2017-2018 season.
Lynch was the days leader scorer and in efficient fashion, as the junior went 8-15 from the floor and hit four threes on ten attempts. The Andover native was also a perfect 3-3 from the free throw line and contributed four rebounds, two assists, and two blocks.
Amalia Esposito returned from injury to put up 10 points off the bench to round out the teams double figure scorers.
The first quarter set the tone for Susquehanna as the team shot 11-15 from the floor and 5-8 from three to gain a 21 point advantage after just 10 minutes of play. Lynch capped the high scoring quarter with an three pointer just before the buzzer to put the team up by 21. The second quarter was more of the same for SU as they continued their efficient offensive rhythm and their suffocating defense. The team opted for a 1-3-1 defensive look throughout both halves and it held the Gophers to 5-34 shooting in the first half, a 15% mark.
The team's 48 points in the first half was the largest total this season as well as their 33 point halftime lead.
Susquehanna continued to build upon their lead in the second half as the team was able to play through all 15 active players.The River Hawks bench outscored Goucher 30-3 throughout the game's entirety and also dominated the paint, outscoring the Gophers 42-10.
Kate Hildebrandt came off the bench to post a career high eight points and career high eight rebounds, leading the stong Susquehanna bench effort.
Erin McQuillen and
Olivia Brandt each ahd near double-doubles, as McQuillen finished with nine point and eight rebounds and Brandt finished with eight and nine.
Victoria Clarke hit her first career three pointer in final period, capping off an exciting win for the River Hawks.
