RALEIGH, NC -
Gabby Bubba threw a complete game shutout for Susquehanna in their first game of the season down in Raleigh, North Carolina at the Grand Slam Triangle Classic. The team defeated Wesleyan 8-0, as the game was called in five innings due to the eight-run rule.
Bubba was dealing all game for SU, as the fifth year allowed only two hit and took advantage of some solid defensive play, as she forced Wesleyan to put the ball in play. She allowed just two hits and one walk, while striking out three over five scoreless innings.
The Susquehanna offense only managed six hits in five innings, but took advantage of four Wesleyan miscues to score eight runs. The River Hawks got their first run of the year when

Lexi Palumbo.Â
In the fourth, SU got their runs in a more traditional manner, after
Katie Koch doubled and
Hannah Roland reached on a walk, setting the table for
Erin Bean, who doubled home both players to extend the lead to 3-0.
The bottom of the fifth saw SU put the eight-run mercy rule into effect, as they rapped out five runs on three hits and two Wesleyan errors. The final blow came from the first-year Palumbo, as she singled home
Nicole Plesh to the score the eighth run to put the mercy rule in effect.Â
