SELINSGROVE, PA (February 9, 2022) -- The Susquehanna University women's basketball squad struggled offensively in the opening half, trailing by 12 at the break before dropping a home Landmark Conference contest to Moravian University 61-49 in action from O.W. Houts Gymnasium.
Junior
Kaitlyn Lynch continued her strong play of late in the contest, as she went for 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting making four of her six shots from behind the arc. Lynch has now scored double figures in five of her last six games, while her 17 points Wednesday were two shy of a career-high for the Andover, NJ native.
SU (11-10, 3-8 Landmark) scored the opening bucket of the game, as junior
Isabella Schwabe finished a layup from senior teammate
Olivia Brandt two minutes into the contest. The Greyhounds fired back with an 8-2 run before a Lynch triple stopped the run and made it a one-point game at 8-7 with 4:37 to go in the first period. Moravian pushed its edge back up to six before taking a 17-12 lead into the second quarter.
The second 10 minutes saw the River Hawks struggle from the floor, making just two field goals as Moravian took a 12-point edge into the halftime break. After the intermission SU got the Greyhound edge down to nine twice in the third quarter, with the latest coming at 3:06 of the period on a jumper by senior
Amanda Lemire.
Moravian would answer with a 7-0 run to take its largest lead of the game at 47-31 with 45 seconds to go in the third quarter, as senior
Sadie Comfort hit a jumper right before the end of the quarter to make it a 14-point deficit for the River Hawks. Moravian would build its advantage up to 20, but SU chipped away to make it a 12-point game at 59-47 on a jumper from Lynch with 2:50 to go. SU had a few chances to get the lead into single digits, but it wasn't enough as the Greyhounds secured the Landmark win.
Along with Lynch, senior

Schwabe finished with seven points and a career-high 11 rebounds, while Brandt tallied six points and 11 rebounds as well.
