WASHINGTON, DC (March 26, 2022) -- Host Catholic University of America, receiving votes in the latest Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA) poll, scored the first seven goals of the second half to break open a close contest as the Susquehanna University men's lacrosse squad fell to the Cardinals 14-6 in play from Carlini Field Saturday in the Landmark Conference opener for both teams.
The contest was tight in the early going, as Sean Baudo of CUA netted the first goal of the game answered at the 11:56 mark of the opening quarter by a tally from SU first-year
Brennan Lorence. After CUA regained its lead, another first-year scored for Susquehanna as
Kieran Thomas was set up by newcomer
Chris Ciccarello to make it 2-2. The teams once again exchanged goals to make it 3-3 before back-to-back goals by Catholic mid-way through the second quarter made the score 5-3.
Rob Swenson would take a nice feed from
Logan Frank with just over four minutes to go in the first half, burying his shot to bring SU back to within on at 5-4.
Less than a minute later, Cameron Dunn scored his second of the day for Catholic, as the hosts took a 6-4 lead into the halftime break. After the intermission, Dunn would start a decisive 7-0 run by the hosts, as the River Hawks wouldn't get back on the board until a Lorence goal from
Victor Simone with 7:18 to play to make it 13-5.
Kobi Buffa netted an unassisted tally, his sixth of the season, with 11 seconds left but it wasn't enough as the Cardinals secured the Landmack win.
Lorence led the River Hawks in scoring Saturday, as he posted three goals while Thomas, Buffa and Swenson all scored once. Junior goalkeeper
Jozef Korpics had a solid day for the River Hawks, as he stopped 19 shots in addition to his three ground balls. First-year

Mike Nevins also contributed two ground balls and a caused turnover.
Dunn finished with a game-high five points, while Joey Rockovich scored twice while adding four ground balls in the win.
