GEORGETOWN, TX - Susquehanna Baseball took home their first win of the 2022 season, defeating the Southwestern 8-1 on the road.
Dillan Weikel threw six innings of three-hit ball, allowing just one unearned run striking out seven.
Adam Schreck also homered for the River Hawks, the fifth one of his career.
Behind Weikel's excellent effort on the mound, Susquehanna jumped out to an early 3-1 lead, as
Evan Knapp drove a run in the first inning and SU brought in two more in the second inning. In the second frame,
Sean McCulloch gave the River Hawks the lead with an RBI groundout, and
Brock Veit singled home another run.
Susquehanna kept the scoring coming as Weikel continued to deal, with
Thomas Romanelli driving in a run on a fielder's choice in the fourth. The River Hawks put the game out of reach in the seventh, with a four run frame, started by Schreck's solo home run. Veit drew a bases loaded walk later in the inning, and
Kris Morrow sealed the game's result with a two-run single to make the score 8-1 SU.
Aidan Martin earned the save for Susquehanna, throwing three no-hit innings for the River Hawks, retiring all eight batters he faced. The sophomore also struck out two batters in his second career save.
Veit had his first career three hit game, as he also walked twice and drove in two runs. Morrow had two RBIs and Book had two hits, including a triple. McCulloch doubled and scored two runs and
Michael Biuso scored twice and walked four times, also stealing a base.
