ELIZABETHTOWN, PA (April 23, 2022) -- The Susquehanna University men's tennis team had no problems on Saturday, cruising past host Elizabethtown College 9-0 in Landmark Conference action from Alumni Courts.
The River Hawks (8-3, 3-1 Landmark) used some players in different positions on Saturday, as
Ethan Cooley and
Tim Basta moved up to No. 1 doubles to pick up an 8-2 win over John Ritter and John Hanson. The duo moved to 8-2 on the season, earning their first victory at No. 1 this year.
Conor Ryan and
Kyle Bitting defeated Luke Paulson and Sam Langer at No. 2 doubles 8-4, as Bitting earned his first doubles win of the 2021-22 season. Ryan upped his mark to 4-6 this year in doubles. Susquehanna picked up the last doubles point by default to take a 3-0 lead into singles.
In singles,
Emil Vyskocil topped Ritter in straight sets, taking all 12 games to post a 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 1 spot. Vyskocil upped his record this season to an even 6-6.
Joshua Sanderson became SU's first player with 10 wins this season, as he posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Hanson at No. 2 singles.
Henrik Sandstede defeated Sam Langer 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles, improving to 4-2 on the campaign.
John Duncan hopped into singles action at No. 4 and cruised, going 6-0, 6-0 for his first win at No. 4 this year. Duncan also moved to 6-3 in singles' action in 2022.
Alex Baker also recorded his third win this season in singles, earning a 6-2, 6-1 win over Yukuke Satani.
Kyle Wagner earned the win at No. 6 by default.
