Ashlynn Searer and sophomore
Isabella Scappaticci picked up wins in singles, but it wasn't enough as the Susquehanna University women's tennis team fell to Moravian University 7-2 on Hoffman Courts.
Moravian (11-3, 4-2 Landmark) swept the doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead going into singles play. Moravian's Maddie Figiel knocked off
Anna Ream at No. 3 singles 6-3, 6-0 to take a 4-0 lead, while Cristina Merone earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory for the Greyhounds at No. 4 singles to secure the match victory.
The singles' victories for the River Hawks (6-7, 1-4 Landmark) came at No. 1 singles and No. 5 singles, as
Ashlynn Searer gutted out a strong three-set victory. Searer won the first set 6-4 before falling 6-1 in the second. Searer would regain momentum in the third set, cruising to a 6-1 win. Searer now has won seven matches on the year, tied for tops on the team.
Scappaticci's win would be in straight sets, as she picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win at the No. 5 position. Scappaticci moved to 3-2 on the season at No. 5, while No. 5 players this season have posted a winning percentage of .615 for SU.
