ELIZABETHTOWN, PA (April 3, 2022) -- Host Elizabethtown College blew open a 3-3 game with five runs in the seventh and eighth innings to pull away for a Landmark Conference victory over Susquehanna University in baseball action from Kevin Scott Boyd Stadium Sunday afternoon.
Elizabethtown (13-12, 7-2 Landmark) got on the board in the bottom of the first on a wild pitch, but Susquehanna tied the game in the top half of the second on a RBI ground out by
Tyler Hmielewski to plate
Chris Corrado.
An inning later,
Kris Morrow hammered his team-leading fourth homerun, a solo shot way over the center field wall to put the River Hawks up 2-1. E-Town evened the score at two in the fourth inning, but
Adam Schreck delived an RBI ground out to plate Morrow in the fifth to put SU up 3-2.
The Blue Jays got an RBI single in the fifth to make it a 3-3 game, but were able to blow the game open with five runs in the bottom of the seventh to make it 8-3.
The River Hawks had the bases loaded in the top of the eighth with no outs and were unable to push a run across, and E-Town followed with five more runs in the bottom half to run away for the win.
Morrow was 2-for-3 with a RBI and two runs scored Sunday, as he's posted two or more hits in four of his last six contests.
Lance Book added a 2-for-4 afternoon offensively, adding a stolen base as well, and Corrado was 1-for-3 with a run scored and stolen base.
Kyle Sears got the start for the River Hawks (7-14, 2-3 Landmark), giving up two earned runs (3 total) on seven hits, striking out three hitters.
Landon Ness also came in late to allow no hits or runs over his 0.2 innings in relief.
