ANNVILLE, PA (September 21, 2022) -- The Susquehanna University women's tennis was unable to get into the win column on Wednesday afternoon, as the River Hawks were topped 9-0 by host Lebanon Valley College in action from Shankroff Tennis Center.
The River Hawks (0-3) fell behind early at No. 1 doubles, as
Grace Tepes and
Isabella Scappaticci dropped an 8-2 decision to Nicole Honrade and Sarah Kramer. Seniors
Chelsea Kneedler and
Kristen Bair were outlasted by Eliana Shenk and Madison Poladian 8-2 at No. 2 doubles, while the Dutchwomen earned the doubles sweep with an 8-3 final at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action, Scappaticci played a thriller at No. 2 singles as she fought off Kramer in the second set to even the match at a set apiece. In the super tiebreaker, Kramer would pull away to earn the 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (10-5) triumph. Bair also played well at No. 3 singles, as she took her match to a tiebreaker as well but couldn't finish off Meredith Haas in a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-5) finish. Kneedler nearly tied the match at a set apiece at No. 4 singles but fell to Shenk 6-1, 6-4, as LVC won the other four singles matches in straight sets.
