Box Score SELINSGROVE, PA (October 8, 2022) – Susquehanna women's tennis took to their home courts on Saturday afternoon for their first home match of the fall, hosting the Cougars of Misericordia University. The Cougars would prove to be too much for the River Hawks, taking a 9-0 victory over SU.
The day began with Bella Scappaticci and Grace Tepes falling 1-8 at #1 doubles, before Kristin Bair and Chelsea Kneedler fell by the same scoreline at #2. Doubles play ended with Eliza Mahoney and Olivia Tepes falling 4-8 at the #3 slot.
Grace Tepes would be the first to fall in singles play, falling 0-6, 0-6 at #2. Scappaticci would fall by the same scoreline at #1 singles, followed by Bair also being swept at the #3 slot. Mahoney fell 2-6, 0-6 at #5, with Kneedler then downed 1-6, 2-6 at #4. The match ended with a tougher fight, as Julia Pardo pushed the #6 singles to a tiebreaker set after winning 6-3 in first set and falling 0-6 in the second. The tiebreaking third set would see her fall 3-10 and the match end 9-0 in favor of the Cougars.
The fall season will continue for the women's squad as they will play back-to-back matches on Sunday the 9th and Monday the 10th. They'll visit Lock Haven University on Sunday afternoon before returning home and welcoming Penn College to Selinsgrove on Monday afternoon for their fall finale.
