BETHLEHEM, PA (October 14, 2023) – Susquehanna men's soccer traveled to face Moravian on Saturday afternoon, beginning a stretch of three road games as Landmark Conference play progresses toward the end of the regular season. The Greyhounds defended their home turf, sending SU home with a 3-1 defeat.
A rainy afternoon did not prove much of a deterrent for the offenses, with shots aplenty for both teams. However, it was efficiency that proved the difference for Moravian, with seven of their 13 shots on goal, while SU had just three of 12 on net. Moravian got on the board with just their second shot of the game, scoring in the 12th minute. The River Hawks fought hard to get back in, putting up seven shots in the half, but were unable to tie the score back up.
While SU searched for an equalizer, Moravian got opportunities to counterattack, scoring a pair of goals in quick succession midway through the second half to push the score to 3-0 in the 64th minute. Susquehanna would manage to respond in the 79th minute, as Zach Polovitch scored his first career goal to break the duck. Susquehanna continued to try to put the pressure on, with Polovitch forcing a save and two further shots from SU in the waning minutes. Unfortunately, the River Hawks were unable to pull any closer, seeing the game end 3-1.
The next stop on the road stretch for Susquehanna will take them to Juniata College on Tuesday, October 17, kicking off at 7 pm.
