SELINSGROVE, PA (October 17, 2023) – The Susquehanna University women's soccer team took to Sassafras Field on a chilly Tuesday evening to host Juniata College, with the regular season winding down and every result in Landmark play looking critical to the River Hawks' chances of reaching the postseason. A hard-fought defensive battle with the Eagles ended with the spoils shared, as the respective defenses held clean sheets and saw the game end 0-0.
It would take time for both teams to work their way into the opposing box in the early going, with a single shot in the first 20 minutes of the match, before the teams traded some tame efforts for the remainder of the half, with each goalkeeper tallying three saves but none of the shots looking troubling at either end.
The second half saw the chances dry up even further, with Susquehanna having the only shot of the half, seeing a shot in the 52nd minute from Marley Sprenkel from just outside the box go wide right. That ultimately proved to be the best chance of the night for either team despite not going on net. From there, the teams were unable to make any further moves translate to shots.
The River Hawks will now go on the road for their next contest, with only three fixtures remaining in the regular season. They'll visit Scranton on Saturday, October 21, kicking off at 3:30 pm.
