Paczewski's Hat Trick Rolls Men's Soccer to 4-0 Victory over ETown

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Max Paczewski scored a hat-trick, Owen Kaar curled in a free-kick and added an assist, and Calvin Paulick and Ben Sweeney assisted as the Susquehanna men's soccer team beat Elizabethtown 4-0 on Saturday. The River Hawks burst out of the gate, going three goals up inside 15 minutes en route to the win.

Even though the River Hawks were outshot 11-7 on the night, both sides managed six shots on target, with Tony Burns saving all six attempts at him and the two Elizabethtown goalkeepers making a save each.

The River Hawks jumped in front in just the seventh minute, when Kaar stepped up to curl a free-kick beyond Kelvin Del Cid in the early minutes. Paczewski made it two just 69 seconds later, sliding a finish past Del Cid on a feed from Paulick to make it 2-0 in the eighth minute.

It wasn't long until it was 3-0, as in the 15th minute, Kaar found Paczewski on a through ball that he again slotted past Del Cid into the bottom right corner.

Both sides put pressure on each other for the rest of the half, but the score at the half-time interval remained at 3-0, with the River Hawks having a 5-4 edge on shots at the half-time interval.

The River Hawks came out strong in the second half as well, with Sweeney finding Paczewski, who cut inside and drilled a finish past Pedro Miranda, the new goalkeeper for the Blue Jays, to make it 4-0 in the 49th minute. The junior forward's hat trick represented his fifth, sixth and seventh goals of the season. The hosts kept on coming, seeing a shot from John Destil saved.

The win is the River Hawks' first in Landmark play, and Jim Findlay's 201st. It's the first time the River Hawks have won a Landmark game since they beat Juniata 5-2 back on Oct. 20, 2021. The River Hawks will be next in action against Goucher at home on Tuesday in a 7 PM kickoff as they look to make it two wins in a row against Landmark foes.
