Dynamic Duo Lifts Men's Lacrosse Past Lycoming, 15-7

WILLIAMSPORT, PA (February 18, 2023) -- Sophomores Brennan Lorence and Chris Ciccarello combined for 12 points and nine goals on Saturday, helping lift the Susquehanna University men's lacrosse team to a 15-7 victory at Lycoming College in non-conference action.

It was the second straight game that Lorence has posted five goals, while Ciccarello finished with six points for the second straight contest. The River Hawks (2-0) outshot their hosts 53-32 Saturday afternoon, while dominating the face-off dot with 24 wins in 26 face-offs. The first quarter was slow to get going, as Susquehanna led Lycoming 2-1 after 15 minutes thanks to goals from Lorence and Kieran Koenke

The second quarter was an offensive explosion for the River Hawks, outscoring the Warriors 7-2 to take a 9-3 lead into the halftime intermission. Ciccarello scored three of his four goals in the second stanza. After halftime, Lorence started the second half with a goal set up by Jack Gaillard to make the score 10-3. Lycoming potted a pair of goals to make it 10-5, and followed a Ciccarello goal with two more scores to make it 11-7 with 11:46 to go.

Susquehanna would take control from that point, as Lorence started and ended a four goal spurt to end the game and clinch the victory. Lorence and Ciccarello combined for 32 shots, including 21 on goal, while Lorence tallied two ground balls and two caused turnovers. Gaillard had another great game distributing the ball with four helpers, and Matthew Faggioli and Koenke each had a goal and an assist.

Defensively, Charles Braught IV picked up five ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers and Aidan Kennedy finished with two caused turnovers as well. Ryan Prum won 21 of his 23 face-off attempts, picking up 10 ground balls, and Dominic Contella finished with three ground balls as well. Jozef Korpics made 11 saves in the victory.

Owen Zimmerman and Troy Scozzafava each scored a pair of goals to lead Lycoming (0-1).

Susquehanna will host No. 7 Dickinson College in the home opener Wednesday, February 22 at 4 p.m. on Sassafras Multipurpose Field.
