Ciccarello Scores Hat Trick on Road at Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, PA. (MARCH 15, 2023) – Susquehanna University men's lacrosse was dealt a 17-8 defeat Wednesday afternoon at Lebanon Valley in a non-conference matchup. The game began with a modest 4-2 lead for the Flying Dutchmen, who then broke off 10 straight scores over the first, second, and third quarters for the sizable win.

Flying Dutchmen Alex Kiviniemi and Jake Bollinger each netted six goals, with Bollinger adding three assists and Kiviniemi one assist. River Hawks Chris Ciccarello had a hat trick, while Matthew Faggioli had two scores to represent Susquehanna's two multi-goal scorers of the day.

LVC's Alex Kiviniemi opened the scoring less than one minute into the contest, but Brennan Lorence tied the match up with 10:43 to go in the first assisted by Kieran Thomas. Kiviniemi put the Dutchmen up ahead again with 8:54 to go, then Evan Miller gave the hosts a 3-1 lead just 24 seconds later. Cicarello answered for SU with an unassisted score that brought the lead down to one, only for Bollinger to finish the first-quarter scoring and put LVC ahead 4-2 after one.

Bollinger's score marked the first of ten unanswered goals for the Flying Dutchmen, including a 6-0 second quarter that made the score 10-2 at halftime. Ciccarello ended this run with a man-down score from Matthew Faggioli to make it 13-3 with 5:11 left in the third. Bollinger connected for the next two goals for LVC to end the third and open the fourth to lead 15-3, then Susquehanna flew to a run of its own with four goals, the first two from Faggioli and the next two from Rob Swenson and Steven Musser. LVC scored again from Colin Hughes, with Ciccarello tabbing his third goal of the day to mark SU's last score of the day. Bollinger provided the last score of the day with 3:53 to go off a feed from Kiiniemi.

Susquehanna was called for seven penalties, with Lebanon Valley seizing on three of them for man-up goals. Faggioli's last score of the day provided SU its only man-up score for the day as LVC was called on two penalties all afternoon. Lebanon Valley led in shots 44-34, including 27-18 in shots on goal.

Jozef Korpics started the game in goal, collecting ten saves and 15 goals allowed before Auggie Granatelli took over with 11:45 in the fourth quarter, gathering two saves.

The River Hawks host Hood this Saturday at 1 p.m.
