Men's Lax Unleashes Against Hood

SELINSGROVE, Pa. (March 18, 2023) – Susquehanna men's lacrosse cruised to a much-needed 16-3 home win Saturday over Hood in their last non-conference matchup prior to Landmark Conference play. Chris Ciccarello, Brennan Lorence, and Kieran Thomas all tallied hat tricks, with Ciccarello also tallying three assists and one each from Lorence and Thomas, as the River Hawks improved to 5-4 on the season.

Head coach Stewart Moan earned his 299th career win to move him one step closer to the 300 mark. He and the River Hawks will have their first chance at reaching the milestone when they open their Landmark season at Drew next Saturday, Mar. 25.

Matthew Faggioli scored the first goal of the day for SU with 12:15 left in the first before Hood's Aidan Gilsdorf tied the game with 10:29 to go in the first. Ciccarello put the River Hawks ahead almost two minutes later on a man-up opportunity to put the team ahead 2-1 after one quarter. This was the first of a 12-goal onslaught for Susquehanna as they shut out Hood the second and third quarters while totaling four goals in the second period and six in the third. The Blazers broke their silence with two in the fourth, while the River Hawks added on four in the final session.

Jozef Korpics posted nine saves on the day with two goals allowed to take the win before giving way to Auggue Granatelli, who collected a pair of saves over the last ten minutes with one goal allowed.

Susquehanna held a commanding 50-31 lead in shots, including 26-14 in shots on goal. Faggioli, Musser, and Ted Zaborowski each scored two goals, with the remaining score coming from Nick Remund. Jack Gaillard tallied two assists, while Jared Tavernite and Jake Turner each had one assist. Tavernite won 10-of-14 faceoffs, while Ryan Prum won 4-of-5.
