Men's Netters Shut Out Elizabethtown on Senior Day, Fall to Moravian in Landmark Home Weekend

SELINSGROVE, PA (April 2, 2023) – The Susquehanna University men's tennis team's five seniors were recognized during Saturday's matchup with Elizabethtown as the River Hawks welcomed the Blue Jays and Moravian Sunday during their Landmark Conference home weekend. SU took down E-Town 9-0 on Saturday, then were handed a 7-2 defeat by the Greyhouns to stand at 4-6 overall and 1-4 in league action.

SUSQUEHANNA 9, ELIZABETHTOWN 0
Kyle Bitting, Kyle Wagner, John Duncan, Justin Mahoney, Conor Ryan, and Joshua Sanderson were the seniors honored following Saturday's victory over Elizabethtown.

The one doubles team of Duncan and Sanderson celebrated the day with an 8-1 decision over Max Lauver and Isaax Reichenbach, while Ryan and Tim Basta pulled out an 8-2 win at two doubles over Sam Langer and Luke Paulson. Alex Baker and Carson Barry earned an 8-1 win over Yusuke Satari and Ethan Zelinsky at three doubles.

The senior Wagner joined in on the winning spirit by defeating his six singles opponent Zelinsky with shutout 6-0 scores in both frames. Sanderson and Duncan both doubled down with singles wins to cap off their senior day, with Sanderson beating Lauver 6-1 and 6-2 at one singles and Duncan downing Isaac Reichenbach 6-0 and 6-1 at four singles. Basta and Baker also had two-win days, with Basta knocking off Sam Langer at two, 6-1 and 6-0, while Baker beat Paulson at three, 6-4 and 6-1. Thomas Hallahan took down Yusuke Satani at five, 6-0 and 6-2.

MORAVIAN 7, SUSQUEHANNA 2
The three doubles team of Alex Baker and Carson Barry took Susquehanna's lone win in doubles, beating Kieran Pisani and Matthew Labosky, 8-6. The one team of Joshua Sanderson and John Duncan were in it until the end against Shayaan Farhad and Anthony Ronca, with the latter pulling out the tiebreaker, 8-7 (3).

Sanderson and Farhad battled tightly again at one singles, with Farhad winning, 6-2, 0-6, 6-2. Duncan took his four singles matchup with Zachary Lebby by 6-2 and 6-1 scores. At five singles, Thomas Hallahan played close sets with Ronny Pimentel-Ferrer, with the latter edging out 7-6 (5) and 7-5 victories.
