SELINSGROVE, PA (April 2, 2023) – Susquehanna women's tennis celebrated a Landmark Conference home weekend by honoring its six seniors during Saturday's matchup with Elizabethtown, in which the River Hawks were narrowly handed a 5-4 defeat. On Sunday, they met with Moravian, falling by a 9-0 score.
Head coach Bob Jordan's team's next matchup will be at home, welcoming Randolph Macon to the Garrett Courts for non-conference play this Wednesday at 4 P.M.

Julia Pardo, Sydney Mastropaqua, and
Eliza Mahoney were recognized at the conclusion of Saturday's match. The matchup began with sunny skies before rainy and windy conditions progressed towards the Garrett Tennis Courts. This served as a fitting backdrop for the match at hand, as SU overcame a 2-1 deficit following doubles with three victories in the singles. The two doubles tandem of the senior Tepes and
Sophia Koons defeated Kaylee Mustard and Haley Bishop, 8-3.
At one singles, Julia Bramley downed Olivia Richards, 6-1 and 6-1, while Koons took down Mustard again by 6-2 and 6-0 scores. Bair defeated Morgan Bleicher, 6-3 and 6-2, setting all eyes on the six singles match between Pardo and Adriana Burmeister for the decisive game. Burmeister won the first set, 6-4, when Pardo reciprocated with a 7-6 (6) victory in game two, putting the matchup to the 10-point tiebreaker. Burmeister prevailed 10-7.

The two team of
Grace Tepes and
Sophia Koons represented the closest doubles match of the day, narrowly dropping an 8-6 decision to Cristina Merone and Maddie Figiel. The one team of Julia Bramley and
Chelsea Kneedler were shutout 8-0 and the three tandem of
Eliza Mahoney and
Olivia Tepes were defeated 8-1.
Bramley played a close set to Julianna Cassady at one singles, but fell by 6-4 scores.
Kristen Bair waged a close first set against Mara Stapleton at five singles, with Stapleton coming out on top 7-6 (2), then posting a more one-sided second frame to win the match 6-0.
