ELIZABETHTOWN, PA (April 8, 2023) – The Susquehanna University men's lacrosse team were hampered by eight consecutive Elizabethtown goals to start their Landmark road match Saturday with the Blue Jays. The River Hawks got on the board late in the first quarter, but were only able to string together consecutive goals just once as they were handed a 19-8 defeat.
Charles Brought IV and
Matthew Faggioli had two goals apiece to lead the River Hawks, with Braught adding one assist for a three-point day.
Chris Ciccarello,
Brennan Lorence, Kieran Kroenke, and
Nick Remund each had one goal. Lorence continues to lead the Landmark with 47 goals this season after entering the contest with the sixth-best goal-scoring total in NCAA Division III, while ranking third with 55 points. Ciccarello is second in the LC with 58 points and third with 34 goals.
Jozef Korpics presided the entire game in goal, administering 15 saves. The River Hawks did their best against E-Town's top scorers in Ben O'Connor, who led the game with five goals, and Riley Langen, who led with eight point on two goals and six assists. Colin Kondracki had seven points on three goals and four assists, while Alex Kilgour had three goals and three assists. The Blue Jays swooped in on 2-of-6 extra-man opportunities, while the River Hawks were held 0-for-7 on their one-up chances.
Susquehanna sits tied for fifth place in the Landmark Conference standings with Moravian with a 1-2 league mark and 7-6 overall. Their matchup with the Greyhounds is a home game next Saturday at 1 p.m. Before then, the River Hawks head to Juniata on Wednesday for a 4:00 p.m. start.
