SELINSGROVE, PA - Susquehanna Volleyball opened their season and the River Hawk Classic off with a 3-0 slaying of the Red Dragons from SUNY Oneonta. The River Hawks play their remaining opponents in the Saturday stretch of their classic, opening with Nazareth at 11 a.m., followed by Messiah at 5 p.m. The two teams squared off in the opening game of the classic prior to Susquehanna's opener, with Messiah taking a 3-0 win.
The River Hawks handily took the first two sets, including a decisive 25-11 opening game and 25-21 in game two. The third set started with the Red Dragons posing a threat, leading 9-8. Susquehanna slowly regained control, jumping out in front 19-13 after winning four straight points and capturing six of the next eight points for the 25-15 win.
Susquehanna finished the night with a .248 hitting percentage, including a .324 percentage in the dominating opening-set victory. The River Hawks accounted for 52.0 points and 44 kills with 37 assists.
Ryan Rorls led with 13 kills, with Brie Livezy totaling ten kills. Setter
Keira Roach dished out 19 assists and two service aces, with
Delaney McCoy garnering 11 assists.
Jessica Sack finished with 16 digs to lead the team on a 53-dig night.
Emily Kowalski led with two blocks and two service aces.
