Men’s Soccer Battle To 2-2 Tie With York (PA)

YORK, Pa. - MJ Dungo and Max Paczewski scored for the River Hawks in a 2-2 tie with York College of Pennsylvania on Wednesday night. They opened the night with the first two goals, but were unable to see out their 2-0 advantage, seeing their lead slip away in the span of three minutes.

The River Hawks scored their opening goal in the 33rd minute, when they got the lead after Paczewski finished nicely. The junior captain's goal came after he dribbled past a Spartan defender, then slotted it beyond the goalkeeper into the bottom left corner of the York net.

The visiting River Hawks doubled their tally when first-year Dungo added his second goal in four games, scoring from a half-volley from the edge of the penalty area that looped over the head of the York goalkeeper before finding the back of the net in the 70th minute.

However, it was not to be for the River Hawks, as Jack Mitzelfelt scored in the 79th minute and Tyler Howlett scored not quite two minutes later in the 81st minute to equalize for the Spartans.

The River Hawks battled hard throughout the 90 minutes, securing a 2-2 tie after being outshot 20-12 by the hosting Spartans. Both teams had 8 shots on target, with Santiago Andino making six saves in the contest. The River Hawks had three corner kicks to the Spartans' 12.

Susquehanna men's soccer is next in action Saturday, September 16th at Widener University for a 4 PM kickoff, and return home to face Elmira Tuesday, September 19th at Sassafras Field. The tie moves them to 0-2-2 for the season as they look to secure their first win next time out.
