Men's Footers Handed Defeat at Widener

CHESTER, PA - Susquehanna men's soccer faced a tough test Saturday afternoon, falling by a final score of 7-0 away to Widener. The hosts scored three goals in the first half and four in the second, outshooting the River Hawks 21-8 in the process.

The Pride opened the scoring in the 15th minute through Sean Fatiga, then Christian Doyle made it 2-0 in the 34th minute with a penalty kick. They made it three in the 38th minute.

In the second half, the Pride scored two quick goals, beating goalkeeper Santiago Andino in the 48th and 54th minutes. The River Hawks had a chance to grab a goal back through Angelo Zografos, but Widener goalkeeper Andrew Garofalo made a smart stop to preserve his shutout. Bryan Gaviria scored for Widener in the 71st minute and the scoring was completed in the 88th minute from John Hilliard.

The River Hawks play again on Tuesday, playing a 7 PM kickoff at home against Elmira. Today's defeat drops them to 0-3-2 on the season.
