WILLIAMSPORT, PA (September 30, 2023) – Susquehanna field hockey visited new Landmark Conference member Lycoming College on Saturday afternoon, making it three wins from three in conference games as they beat the Warriors 5-0.

The River Hawks were on the offensive from the opening whistle, bombarding Lycoming's goal with 11 shots in just the first quarter. They would open the scoring just over ten minutes in, with Rebecca Ripans scoring on an assist from Sophia Prata. Less than two minutes later, SU would double their advantage through Taylor Rothermel, with the first-year scoring on an assist from Katie Bucher. Leading 2-0 heading into the second quarter, the Warriors would clamp down a bit on defense, holding SU to only three shots. Another would find the back of the cage though, as senior Sarah McAndrews got on the end of a second assist from Prata.

Well in control, SU would add another goal in each of the third and fourth quarters, first through a second goal from Rothermel, who brings her debut season goal tally to four. McAndrews would pick up the assist. The final goal came early in the fourth quarter, with Natalie Burleigh scoring the first goal of her collegiate career on an assist from Kiana Coulter.

The well-rounded display saw SU rack up 30 shots, with 22 on goal. Meanwhile, the defense was unbeatable, not allowing a single shot for Lycoming. The River Hawks also had 16 penalty corners to Lycoming's three.

7-3 overall and 3-0 in the Landmark, Susquehanna will next travel to Alvernia University on Tuesday, October 3 for a non-conference matchup. The game will begin at 4:30 pm.
